About the course
This course equips participants with the practical skills and knowledge required to maintain chainsaws in safe and efficient working condition. Covering unit FWPCOT2254, participants will learn how to carry out routine maintenance tasks including chain sharpening, tensioning, bar care, and pre-operational inspections to keep their equipment performing at its best.
Delivered over 4 hours, the course is ideal for workers in forestry, arboriculture, land clearing, and vegetation management who rely on chainsaws as part of their daily work. Participants will gain confidence in identifying common faults and carrying out basic servicing to minimise downtime and reduce safety risks on the job.

Please arrive prepared with the following items to get the most out of this hands-on course:
- Steel-capped boots (mandatory)
- Work gloves
- Safety glasses or goggles
- Long-sleeved shirt and long pants
- Notepad and pen
- Water bottle and snacks
- Your own chainsaw (optional — participants are welcome to bring their own saw for hands-on servicing practice)
All essential tools and maintenance equipment will be provided on the day. Participants who bring their own chainsaw should ensure it is transported safely and in accordance with relevant regulations.
